In this painting, I wanted to capture Nueces Mosque's unique quality as an oasis despite its urban setting in Austin. The depiction of the mosque as a little yellow house in a field of flowers symbolizes the oasis-like aura it exudes. While not a natural oasis, it serves as a spiritual and communal oasis for college students, offering them a haven of tranquility, solace, and connection within their bustling university lives. For many, Nueces provides a sense of homeliness and belonging, inviting all who enter to find a sense of peace and community, just as I felt while attending this mosque.
 
The verse “Come to Prayer, Come to Success” is gracefully integrated into the artwork reinforcing the central message: that success lies in responding to the call to prayer. This painting serves as a powerful reminder of the spiritual journey and the profound sense of fulfillment that comes with answering this divine invitation.
